11. Specific League Rules – Remember we are out here to have fun!!
In all recreational play – overhand serves are allowed– but no jump serves.
• Once a team scores 3 points in a row using overhand serves from the same player– you must serve one underhand before returning to 3 serves overhand. (3-1-3-1-3)
o if a player forgets to serve one underhand after their 3 overhand
? there will be no point awarded and play should be stopped at the time of the serve and the serve will be replayed with the serve being underhanded.
• Two Guy Rule - if ball is hit more than one time before going over the net, a girl must have come in contact and hit the ball at least once.
o a male may “bump” the ball over the net after block or partial block without violating the rule
o A “block” does not count as a hit– and a Woman blocking does not satisfy the Co Ed “two guy” hit rule.
• Lifts - obvious lifts or grasping/throwing the ball will not be allowed.
o “Loosely called” double hits, lifts, etc. will be allowed-
? do the honorable thing and call your side of the net fairly.
• Net Violations- Players going into the net or under the net will not be allowed.
Competitive league play– all overhand and jump serves are allowed. No Serve rule!
? Serves cannot be set or blocked at net
? Serves must be received with either an underhand “bump” or a two hand “volley”.
? Any serve that touches the net– but goes over is a live ball and is legal to be played.
WE PLAY VOLLEYBALL RAIN OR SHINE!!
? The MARK will rarely cancel, only extreme weather conditions will cause a cancellation.
? We will use our best judgment in cancellations.
? In the event of lightning, The MARK will announce to teams to clear courts if we feel that there is a safety issue –a lightning risk overhead will warrant clearing the courts.
o If teams feel that they need to postpone– for weather reasons or other
o BOTH TEAMS MUST AGREE TO MAKE UP THE GAMES AT A PREDETERMINED TIME!!
o Any games not made up prior to the next scheduled match will count as losses.
? It is the responsibility of BOTH TEAMS AND CAPTAINS to arrange for any make ups of matches.
If The MARK elects to cancel a week due to weather or another reason
? Captains will be notified via EMAIL AND/OR PHONE/TEXT
o IT IS THE CAPTAINS RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE YOUR CORRECT CONTACT INFORMATION
o management will use its best efforts to reschedule.
o Be advised that makeup games may not be possible.
o AGAIN
? THE MARK MANAGEMENT STAFF WILL MAKE CALLS DUE TO WEATHER AND WILL LET CAPTAINS KNOW VIA EMAIL AND/OR PHONE /TEXT AS SOON AS A DECISION HAS BEEN MADE
