Spring volleyball Postponed
Wednesday, March 18, 2020 3:09:10 PM

With the announcement today, The Mark will be closed until at least April 30th. As we get closer to that date, we will make a call on what to do with Spring session of sand volleyball. As of now, if we were to start the first week of May, we would have to play a shorter session. If we do get to play, we would issue partial refunds for each week not played, depending on number of weeks. If the restriction on groups continues, we would have a few options for each team. Refund the full amount of the spring session or use that towards a credit for the summer season.
We will continue to monitor the situation and make decisions to reopen based on current restrictions placed by the state and with regards to the safety of our staff and customers.
Please email leagues@markomaha.com for additional questions or info. We have a very small staff monitoring emails, phones and working to cancel reservations and parties. Please make sure to email not call.
Thanks for your help through this and we look forward to getting back up and running as soon as we are able.
Travis and Austin

We will play in the rain and if its chilly out. If there is a chance of inclement weather, we will monitor and make decisions in the interest of safety for players. In some cases, we will delay. Others, we will cancel. Teams can reach out to makeup missed games based on court availability (usually before or after league play).

11. Specific League Rules – Remember we are out here to have fun!!
In all recreational play – overhand serves are allowed– but no jump serves.
• Once a team scores 3 points in a row using overhand serves from the same player– you must serve one underhand before returning to 3 serves overhand. (3-1-3-1-3)
o if a player forgets to serve one underhand after their 3 overhand
? there will be no point awarded and play should be stopped at the time of the serve and the serve will be replayed with the serve being underhanded.
• Two Guy Rule - if ball is hit more than one time before going over the net, a girl must have come in contact and hit the ball at least once.
o a male may “bump” the ball over the net after block or partial block without violating the rule
o A “block” does not count as a hit– and a Woman blocking does not satisfy the Co Ed “two guy” hit rule.
• Lifts - obvious lifts or grasping/throwing the ball will not be allowed.
o “Loosely called” double hits, lifts, etc. will be allowed-
? do the honorable thing and call your side of the net fairly.
• Net Violations- Players going into the net or under the net will not be allowed.
Competitive league play– all overhand and jump serves are allowed. No Serve rule!
? Serves cannot be set or blocked at net
? Serves must be received with either an underhand “bump” or a two hand “volley”.
? Any serve that touches the net– but goes over is a live ball and is legal to be played.
WE PLAY VOLLEYBALL RAIN OR SHINE!!
? The MARK will rarely cancel, only extreme weather conditions will cause a cancellation.
? We will use our best judgment in cancellations.
? In the event of lightning, The MARK will announce to teams to clear courts if we feel that there is a safety issue –a lightning risk overhead will warrant clearing the courts.
o If teams feel that they need to postpone– for weather reasons or other
o BOTH TEAMS MUST AGREE TO MAKE UP THE GAMES AT A PREDETERMINED TIME!!
o Any games not made up prior to the next scheduled match will count as losses.
? It is the responsibility of BOTH TEAMS AND CAPTAINS to arrange for any make ups of matches.
If The MARK elects to cancel a week due to weather or another reason
? Captains will be notified via EMAIL AND/OR PHONE/TEXT
o IT IS THE CAPTAINS RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE YOUR CORRECT CONTACT INFORMATION
o management will use its best efforts to reschedule.
o Be advised that makeup games may not be possible.
o AGAIN
? THE MARK MANAGEMENT STAFF WILL MAKE CALLS DUE TO WEATHER AND WILL LET CAPTAINS KNOW VIA EMAIL AND/OR PHONE /TEXT AS SOON AS A DECISION HAS BEEN MADE
