In all recreational play – overhand serves are allowed– but no jump serves. • Once a team scores 3 points in a row using overhand serves from the same player– you must serve one underhand before returning to 3 serves overhand. (3-1-3-1-3) o if a player forgets to serve one underhand after their 3 overhand ? there will be no point awarded and play should be stopped at the time of the serve and the serve will be replayed with the serve being underhanded. • Two Guy Rule - if ball is hit more than one time before going over the net, a girl must have come in contact and hit the ball at least once. o a male may “bump” the ball over the net after block or partial block without violating the rule o A “block” does not count as a hit– and a Woman blocking does not satisfy the Co Ed “two guy” hit rule. • Lifts - obvious lifts or grasping/throwing the ball will not be allowed. o “Loosely called” double hits, lifts, etc. will be allowed- ? do the honorable thing and call your side of the net fairly. • Net Violations- Players going into the net or under the net will not be allowed. Competitive league play– all overhand and jump serves are allowed. No Serve rule! ? Serves cannot be set or blocked at net ? Serves must be received with either an underhand “bump” or a two hand “volley”. ? Any serve that touches the net– but goes over is a live ball and is legal to be played. WEATHER Our goal is to play volleyball every week of the scheduled league. In the event of impending weather, we will monitor storms and conditions. We will make the call for games 2 hours in advance before the first league time slot. Captains will be notified via email. Captains are responsible for having correct email addresses on file. The Mark is not responsible for weather causing cancellations. Games will not be refunded. The session is set for a specific number of weeks. Ideally, one week to play each team in the league or pool. There is an extra week factored in for weather delays as needed. GAME CANCELLATIONS In the event your team is unable to make your scheduled game, you need to email tstrauss@bowlero.com. Please include your team name, day and time you play. We ask that teams email minimum of 2 hours before the start of the first league start time. The Mark will notify all teams on that night of league to try and get someone to pickup and cover the missing team. The team scheduled will get 3 points, while the team that is unable to attend will get 0 points. In the rare event that both scheduled teams are unable to make games, both teams will receive a score of 0 points. LATE STARTS After 15 minutes of game time has past and an opponent has not taken the court, the late team will be penalized the first set. If teams are late to the court, set point totals can be reduced to 15 or 18 points to keep the league on track for time. Games must be completed before the next time slot begins.
