New volleyball checkout policy
Thursday, April 8, 2021 1:44:20 AM

Volleyballs can be checked out at the patio bar. You will need to leave a credit card to check out a ball. Return the ball at the end of your match play to get your credit card back. If you dont return your ball that night, we will have to charge a $35 ball replacement charge.

We did not change this policy lightly. We spend a few thousand each year on volleyball and supplies. We did not want to raise volleyball prices. This is the fair way to go about it.

Thanks for your understanding.

-         Schedules will be online after the first week for the entire session.

-         Waivers are filled out online during registration. Copies are also available at the bar.

-         Volleyballs must be checked out with a credit card at the patio bar. If you bring your own, you are responsible for them.

-          Scores will be posted online after the first week is complete. Scores for the week will be posted on Monday at the latest. Teams are responsible to turn in scores each night.

-         Sessions will end with either a 2-week tournament OR King of the Hill (best record). This will depend on length of session and number of teams in each time slot. Ideally, spring and fall will end with best record. Summer and Winter Indoor will have 2-week tournaments.

-         We are committed to playing every night games are schedules. In the event of inclement weather (lightning, severe rain or extreme cold), we will cancel volleyball via email by 4pm. We will play in the rain and if its chilly out. If there is a chance of inclement weather, we will monitor and make decisions in the interest of safety for players. In some cases, we will delay. Others, we will cancel. Teams can reach out to makeup missed games based on court availability (usually before or after league play).

-         Please make sure to log into the EZ facility page and add all your teammates emails. This will notify everyone about changes. Otherwise, only the person who registered the team online will get the emails.

-         No outside food or drinks are allowed. Any violation of outside liquor, you will be removed from the league without refund. There will be no warnings.

-         Dogs are not allowed at The Mark except for service animals. Emotional support animals are not allowed at The Mark.

11. Specific League Rules – Remember we are out here to have fun!!
In all recreational play – overhand serves are allowed– but no jump serves.
• Once a team scores 3 points in a row using overhand serves from the same player– you must serve one underhand before returning to 3 serves overhand. (3-1-3-1-3)
o if a player forgets to serve one underhand after their 3 overhand
? there will be no point awarded and play should be stopped at the time of the serve and the serve will be replayed with the serve being underhanded.
• Two Guy Rule - if ball is hit more than one time before going over the net, a girl must have come in contact and hit the ball at least once.
o a male may “bump” the ball over the net after block or partial block without violating the rule
o A “block” does not count as a hit– and a Woman blocking does not satisfy the Co Ed “two guy” hit rule.
• Lifts - obvious lifts or grasping/throwing the ball will not be allowed.
o “Loosely called” double hits, lifts, etc. will be allowed-
? do the honorable thing and call your side of the net fairly.
• Net Violations- Players going into the net or under the net will not be allowed.
Competitive league play– all overhand and jump serves are allowed. No Serve rule!
? Serves cannot be set or blocked at net
? Serves must be received with either an underhand “bump” or a two hand “volley”.
? Any serve that touches the net– but goes over is a live ball and is legal to be played.
WE PLAY VOLLEYBALL RAIN OR SHINE!!
? The MARK will rarely cancel, only extreme weather conditions will cause a cancellation.
? We will use our best judgment in cancellations.
? In the event of lightning, The MARK will announce to teams to clear courts if we feel that there is a safety issue –a lightning risk overhead will warrant clearing the courts.
o If teams feel that they need to postpone– for weather reasons or other
o BOTH TEAMS MUST AGREE TO MAKE UP THE GAMES AT A PREDETERMINED TIME!!
o Any games not made up prior to the next scheduled match will count as losses.
? It is the responsibility of BOTH TEAMS AND CAPTAINS to arrange for any make ups of matches.
If The MARK elects to cancel a week due to weather or another reason
? Captains will be notified via EMAIL AND/OR PHONE/TEXT
o IT IS THE CAPTAINS RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE YOUR CORRECT CONTACT INFORMATION
o management will use its best efforts to reschedule.
o Be advised that makeup games may not be possible.
o AGAIN
? THE MARK MANAGEMENT STAFF WILL MAKE CALLS DUE TO WEATHER AND WILL LET CAPTAINS KNOW VIA EMAIL AND/OR PHONE /TEXT AS SOON AS A DECISION HAS BEEN MADE
